Wise Greece was one of the winners of the European Social Challenge Award (click here for more), which finances the most innovative solutions for Europe’s most pressing problems!
We could not but respond to the “challenge” posted by Athens, to create sustainable food systems and ensure access to quality food for people who are in great need. It was a great honour for us to receive the prize to implement the plan we had submitted!
Thus, the Wise Greece Producers Corner was created in the Municipal Market of Kypseli, the first social economy market in Greece! An area where the small Greek producers of Wise Greece can sell their products, while the profit from the sale is transformed into food for the people of the Municipality of Athens who live below the poverty line.
At the same time, at the Producers Corner, we organize tasting events, so that the locals will come closer to what the rich Greek land produces! We welcome schools and students to informed them about the potential of social entrepreneurship in Greece, we organize meetings for food waste and we present our initiative to the media, in order to raise awareness and be able to help event more people.
So, with great pleasure, we present what we have achieved within 6 months of operation with the help of the Social Challenge Award and we are ready to maximize our social impact in the future!
