Baked apples with raw nuts and almond butter consist the ideal sweet for the winter. Carolina Doriti is preparing it for Wise Home Cooking Series with Wise Greece products.
Ingredients:
6 medium sized apples
½ lemon
120gr mixed nuts, Nutorious
1 tablespoon lightly toasted sesame seeds
150gr almond butter with dark chocolate, Nutorious
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground clove
¾ cup hot water
Honey and extra cinnamon to serve
Cooking instructions
Preheat oven at 190ºC.
Wash the apples and pat them dry with a towel. Slice off their top (there are going to be used as lids).
Use an apple corer or small sharp knife to core the apples and create a well at their center, keeping their base intact. Place the apples in a deep baking dish and squeeze lemon juice on them and their lids, to prevent them from going brown.
Coarsely chop the nuts and mix them all in a bowl along with the sesame seeds, almond butter and spices.
Stuff the apples and place their tops back on. Pour the hot water into the bottom of the baking dish and carefully place it on the lowest rack of your oven.
Bake for about 30-40 mins until the apples have cooked through and gone soft.
Drizzle them with the pan juices and serve, preferably warm, with Greek yogurt, some honey and extra cinnamon.
I suggest you try them with chestnut honey, as I believe it tastes great with this recipe!
