{"id":19444,"date":"2021-11-01T13:41:44","date_gmt":"2021-11-01T11:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wisegreece.com\/?p=19444"},"modified":"2022-08-30T14:02:47","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T11:02:47","slug":"wise-home-cooking-lentils-with-barley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wisegreece.com\/en\/recipes-with-wise-greece-products\/wise-home-cooking-lentils-with-barley\/","title":{"rendered":"WISE HOME COOKING: Lentils with barley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The traditional lentils in a different way, from the favorite Chef Carolina Doriti, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisegreece.com\/en\/products\/\">Wise Greece products<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients for 6 <\/strong><strong>servings<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>150gr. fine lentils<br \/>\n2 tbsp. olive oil + 40ml<br \/>\n2 carrots cut into cubes<br \/>\n1 medium white onion, finely chopped<br \/>\n3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped<br \/>\n1 sprig of chopped celery<br \/>\n130gr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisegreece.com\/en\/product\/wise-greece-exclusive-baked-orzo-with-turmeric\/\">baked barley with turmeric Wise Greece Exclusive<\/a><br \/>\n1 medium potato peeled and diced<br \/>\n1 small Florin pepper cut into cubes<br \/>\n70gr. tomato puree<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon oregano<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon thyme<br \/>\n2 bay leaves<br \/>\n1.7 lt of hot water or vegetable broth<br \/>\n2 tbsp. chopped parsley<br \/>\n2 tbsp. lemon juice Salt-black pepper<br \/>\nFor serving extra lemon juice, olive oil and pepper<br \/>\nRinse the lentils and drain well<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking Instructions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Put a large pot on medium to high heat.<br \/>\nAdd the olive oil and as soon as it heats up, saut\u00e9 the onion, garlic, potato, carrot, celery and pepper.<br \/>\nAdd the lentils, the pulp and a little salt and pepper. Stir and add the oregano, thyme and bay leaf.<br \/>\nAdd water or broth, lower the heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes until the vegetables are done.<br \/>\nOnce they are done, add the barley and simmer for about 5-8 minutes. 3 minutes before the pasta is done, mix in the lemon juice, the parsley and the rest of the olive oil.<br \/>\nRemove from the heat and serve if desired with extra
