Tell us a bit about yourselves. How did you get started? What inspired you to get involved in the food industry?
The inspiration for creating Nutree came from the fast-paced lifestyle we experienced during our studies and work abroad. Anastasios, a Chemical Engineer who studied at the University of Patras and completed a Master’s degree at University College London, worked for four years in a multinational food company in the UK and the US. “The demands of daily life were intense and created a need for healthy snacks that would give me the energy I needed. I started experimenting with recipes for the first bars in my home kitchen.” Anastasios is the visionary and recipe creator behind Nutree, a vision shared with Phaedon, a Mechanical Engineer with a Master’s in Economics and International Relations from Columbia University in New York, who is the driving force behind taking the recipes out into the world. Together, they seem to have built the ideal team to achieve their goals: “At Nutree, we believe that healthy eating is for everyone, young and old.”
Tell us a bit about the brand. What does it represent? What was your purpose in creating it?
We founded Nutree with a shared vision: to create the first Greek brand aiming to incorporate healthy snacks made from pure and authentic ingredients into everyone’s daily life. Having both lived abroad, we experienced firsthand the challenge – and understood the importance – of maintaining a balanced diet in a fast-paced lifestyle.
Tell us about your products. What makes them different?
The core innovation of Nutree’s first product line – raw energy bars – lies in the unique combination of high nutritional value, delicious taste, and satiety, all wrapped in a pioneering and aesthetically distinctive package. Nutree’s plant-based bars are 100% natural, provide instant natural energy from dried fruits and nuts, contain no added sugar or preservatives of any kind, and are gluten-free. They are the perfect snack for work, travel, or any time when physical and mental performance is needed.
Tell us about your ingredients
Our ingredients are carefully selected after ongoing research and communication with producers, mainly Greek. Our products are made from dried fruits (such as strawberries, bananas, apples, berries, etc.), nuts, and spices. We place great emphasis on the quality of the raw materials and are constantly seeking new, innovative ingredients that combine high nutritional value with unique flavor. Our priority is to support Greek producers and help showcase the treasures of the Greek land.
Are there any products you particularly recommend?
Each one is special, but we definitely recommend trying our new Banana Almond Butter flavor, which contains pieces of dried banana, Greek almond butter, and organic cinnamon!
Can you share some suggestions for how to use your products (beyond the usual ways, tips or recipes)?
Our energy bars can be enjoyed as a breakfast or a snack. They also pair perfectly with yogurt, fruit, and even in smoothies!
Can Greek producers make a difference during the crisis?
Absolutely. We believe that with smart management, the crisis can be a great opportunity to reintroduce Greek products to the world in the way they deserve. We strongly believe in the exceptional quality of Greece’s raw ingredients. Innovation and maintaining a strong identity and character will be key factors in helping Greek products shine on the global gastronomic stage.
