Meet Miltiadis from Apicure

Miltiadis shares how an afternoon mountain walk for exercise—and a serious burn injury—sparked his journey into food and later cosmetics. Let’s get to know him…

Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you get started? What inspired you to get into food production?
It all started with a single beehive I collected from the hollow of a chestnut tree during an afternoon hike. A few years later, a member of our family suffered a severe facial burn. Doctors warned that it would leave permanent scarring. Following the advice of an elderly woman, we used a beeswax ointment—and remarkably, it left no trace of a scar. That moment marked the beginning of our journey into cosmetics. Our love for bees combined with the gifts of nature led us to create our first creams.

Tell us about the brand. What does it stand for? What was your motivation behind starting it?
From the moment we started working with bees—before even harvesting our first honey—we collected propolis, knowing its medicinal properties. We then began producing a variety of honeys: arbutus honey, which lowers cholesterol; knotweed honey, which boosts iron levels; and chestnut honey, rich in antioxidants. Our first beeswax creams all had healing properties. From the beginning, all our products were created with a therapeutic goal in mind. They remain 100% natural, always respecting both nature and people.

How did you start? What challenges did you face?
As a young entrepreneur in Greece, I faced many challenges—most notably, building brand recognition in a highly competitive market. However, the quality of our products, which has always been our core principle, was recognized faster than expected by Greek consumers, and our business journey looks very promising.

Tell us about your products. What makes them different?
The most important feature is their purity. Our honey is produced entirely naturally, without the use of chemicals or processing. The same goes for our creams. As the old saying goes, “If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your face.” We’ve followed that philosophy from the very first beeswax ointment made in my mom’s kitchen with wax from our own bees, our own olive oil, and our own honey.

Tell us about your raw materials.
The raw materials—herbal extracts and bee-derived ingredients—were originally collected from high altitudes in the Pierian Mountains, far from pollution or contamination. We went to these remote areas to harvest varieties like oak honey. The herbs we collected were made into extracts and added to our creams for their beneficial properties. That’s how we created our first healing creams. Demand from stores followed quickly. To meet it, we needed certified raw materials, so we carefully selected partners to ensure the quality and effectiveness we wanted.

Are there any products that stand out to you?
Our products fall into two categories: food and cosmetics. From our food products, I’d highlight the Four Seasons Honey, which consumers say reminds them of the “old-school” honey, and the propolis, known for its endless beneficial properties and used in all our cosmetics.

As for cosmetics—where to begin? The Black Cumin Cream, which has helped many people with psoriasis and skin conditions? The 24-Hour Moisturizer with whitening properties that people thank us for because it removed age spots that even laser treatments couldn’t? The Propolis Soap that deeply cleanses yet is suitable even for the most sensitive skin? Or the Narcissus Serum, powered by nanotechnology, which “works against time” by naturally renewing skin cells daily? Each one is unique—I truly couldn’t choose just one.

Share some usage tips or extra ways to enjoy your products (beyond the basics).
Daily Face Care Routine
Step 1: Pollen Soap
Healthy skin starts with proper cleansing.
Every evening, lather your face with Pollen Soap. If you leave it on for 3–5 minutes, it also acts as an effective face mask.
Then rinse off with lukewarm water.

Step 2: Narcissus Serum
Apply 2–3 drops morning and night, 5–10 minutes before your moisturizer.

Step 3 – Morning: Skin First Firming Oil
After the serum is absorbed, just 1–2 sprays are enough for full facial hydration throughout the day.

Step 3 – Evening: 24-Hour Beeswax Moisturizer
After cleansing and applying the Narcissus serum, apply the 24-Hour Moisturizer each night.

Can Greek producers make a difference in times of crisis?
I believe the primary sector is the foundation of our economy. But to truly make a difference, the state must be a partner, not an obstacle, in the growth of businesses.
It’s no coincidence that Greece ranks among the top in the EU for honey production quality, thanks to its vast plant diversity—but when it comes to exports, we’re near the bottom.

Why did you choose to support the Wise Greece movement?
I hope that by participating, I can contribute to the admirable social mission of Wise Greece, which not only supports Greek producers but also actively strengthens Greek entrepreneurship.
